Assoc. Prof. Ahmet M. Elbir Appointed as Chair of the IEEE Synthetic Aperture Technical Working Group

Assoc. Prof. Ahmet M. Elbir, a faculty member of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Istinye University, has been elected as the chair of the Synthetic Aperture (SA) Technical Working Group under the prominent international organization, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

About Synthetic Aperture Technology

Synthetic aperture (SA) is an imaging technique in which inference information is computed by comparing images obtained from multiple look angles. This technique is used in various fields including radar, sonar, radio telescopes, channel sounding, optics, radiometry, acoustics, quantum, microscopy and biomedical applications such as ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), magnetometry and computed tomography (CT).

IEEE Synthetic Aperture Technical Working Group

The IEEE Synthetic Aperture Technical Working Group brings together 20 distinguished scientists to focus on theoretical and experimental aspects of SA. The group conducts theoretical and applied research in areas such as SA experiments, data analysis, and method development. Additionally, it fosters the dissemination of scientific knowledge through webinars, summer schools, special issues in prestigious IEEE journals, and dedicated sessions at international conferences.

We congratulate Assoc. Prof. Ahmet M. Elbir on this significant achievement, which aligns with Istinye University’s vision of advancing research and innovation. We wish him continued success in his endeavors.
