Asst. Prof. Dr. Doğa Can Sertbaş, one of our faculty members from the Department of Mathematics at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, met with the students of the Türk Eğitim Vakfı İnanç Türkeş Özel Lisesi (TEVİTÖL) on February 11, 2025 with his speech titled “Probabilistic Method and Some Applications”.
He explained many topics from proving mathematical propositions to induction, from proof techniques to the probabilistic method used by Erdos in his work in 1947.
He also mentioned Ramsey theory in his speech. Then, he shared his system for obtaining a lower bound for diagonal Ramsey numbers using the probabilistic method. Asst. Prof. Dr. Doğa Can Sertbaş answered students’ questions in order to provide a different perspective on mathematical problems with probabilistic methods and to help solve such theories more efficiently.
