Makine Mühendisliği

Having completed his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from Istanbul Technical University (ITU), Dr. Senol Piskin received his master's and doctorate degrees from ITU Informatics Institute, Computational Science and Engineering Departmentg. He worked as a postdoctoral researcher for 3 years at Koç University Mechanical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering departments. Then he worked as a researcher and lecturer in the Departments of Mechanical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Texas for nearly 3 years. He works in the field of health sciences, specifically on are healthcare technologies, numerical and experimental modeling of cardiovascular systems, surgical planning, medical device design, biomimetics, microflow tools, biomaterials, biomechanics, rheology. He works with cardiovascular surgeons, cardiologists and radiologists. In this way, he carries out patient-specific modeling, simulation and designs using robotics and extended reality tools. Besides academic studies, he also carried out activities in the field of entrepreneurship and established a start-up company. The company has received various supports from Turkey and the EU. He has patents and patent applications besides his articles. He is a referee in journals such as European Heart Journal, Annals of Biomedical Engineering, Artificial Organs, Cardiovascular Engineering and Technology, Journal of Biomechanics.
