The Department of Chemistry will start its education activities at the Vadi Istanbul campus at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences in 2021-2022 fall semester. The language of instruction in our department will be English. Today, it is clear that English has become a common communication tool all over the world, and it is very important to use the English language, especially for basic sciences, since it is also the language of science. In this way, we aim to train chemists integrated with the world.
We will have a quota of 20 students with full scholarship. The fact that we are a newly opened department and our quota is so limited will offer a great advantage for our students, in the field of chemistry, where practice is very important. Due to the small number of students in the class, our faculty members and instructors who are competent in their fields will be able to take care of you one-on-one, you will be able to do your experiments yourself and use the laboratory devices one-to-one. This is a great opportunity for a chemistry student.
Even our preparatory class students can participate in the studies carried out in our department and start their laboratory practices while they are still in the preparatory class. In the following terms, our students can find the opportunity to work in research projects to be carried out in our department, and our students can continue their summer laboratory practices. In addition, as a result of these studies, it is possible for students to publish their articles in international scientific journals. We are a department that is aware of the personal and academic contribution of student mobility and international experience and is aware of its importance, and we are ready to encourage and offer opportunities to our students in this direction. In this way, our students, after graduation, will be able to start their professional working life in a more experienced, conscious and experienced way compared to their competitors in the academic or industrial work areas they will choose.
Job opportunities and sector diversity are very wide for graduates of Chemistry Department. There are job opportunities in almost every branch of industry such as pharmaceutical, paint, textile, food and automotive. In addition, you have the chance to become a scientist in the academic field.
Chemistry is everywhere. Every breath you take is a chemical reaction. Using your chemistry knowledge, you can explain what is happening around you. Why can we use sodium chloride in cooking, even though sodium metal explodes when thrown into water? Chemical discoveries and applications have played a crucial role in human progress throughout history. It will continue to have a profound impact on health, the environment, industry, agriculture, science and technology. In this respect, chemistry is a field that will never go out of fashion.
