In order to evaluate the digital developments in the field of health, the first of the ‘HospitalManager Workshops’ was held at Istinye University Vadi Campus Main Campus Congress Centre.
Deputy Minister of Health Assoc. Dr. Şuayıp Birinci, Istinye University Rector Prof. Dr. Erkan İbiş, Liv Hospital Group Coordinator & Istinye University Executive Board Member and Hospital Manager Editorial Board Member Meri İstiroti, Hospital Manager Editorial Director Oğuz Engiz and many participants and guests attended the workshop held on Saturday, 8 February 2025 under the title of ‘Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence Integration in Health’.
Deputy Minister of Health Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şuayıp Birinci made the opening speech of the workshop, where the technological infrastructure in the field of health and the applications it brings with it were discussed. While informing the participants about the health system in Turkey, he also made evaluations.
‘We are experiencing the advantage of digitalisation.’
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Erkan İbiş, Rector of Istinye University, talked about the continuity of change, the elements of technology that have entered our lives to make life comfortable, and the developments experienced with this. Prof. Dr. Erkan İbiş; ‘We are experiencing the advantage of digitalisation in a wide range. At the same time, digitalisation provides advantages in many parameters such as increasing the effectiveness of health services, ensuring sustainability and increasing efficiency.
Great changes are taking place in health services in our country. Today, we all use the e-Nabız System. We are experiencing important applications in many areas such as digital tracking medication system and digital health data tracking. There are also many problems we face. Digital literacy is one of them. Here, the public and universities have a lot of work to do.’
Liv Hospital Group Coordinator & Istinye University Executive Board Member and Hospital Manager Editorial Board Member Meri Istiroti emphasised that the traditional model of access to health has now changed in her speech within the scope of the workshop and said; ‘A future where each individual can receive the right diagnosis when they need it and personalised treatments are widespread is possible. Our aim today is to determine how we can transform human life by using technology more effectively for sustainable health service production and to share solutions to make health services more accessible.’
Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence
After the opening speeches of the workshop, Fashion Designer Arzu Kaprol made a presentation titled ‘What we wear in the field of body, healthy life and technology. Protective and healing garments and new design parameters in the artificial intelligence universe’.
The session ‘The role of artificial intelligence software in decision support systems’ was moderated by the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Health Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şuayıp Birinci. Tanzer Özdil, Deputy General Manager of Acıbadem Technology, Istinye University Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences Faculty Member Asst. Prof. Dr. Şenol Pişkin, Koç System General Manager Mehmet Ali Akarca, WisdomEra CEO Dr. Levent Korkmaz, Memorial Information Systems Coordinator Kaan Öztuncer and Güven Future General Manager Tolga Tuncer were among the panelists.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Şenol Pişkin also touched on studies on machine learning and artificial intelligence in healthcare services and projects on XR, wearable devices, virtual surgery, robotics and remote monitoring carried out in our Control and Robotics Laboratory.
The second panel was moderated by Istanbul University - Cerrahpaşa Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Haluk Özsarı. Emin Fadıllıoğlu, CEO of Eczacıbaşı Health and President of DISADER, Mehmet Tuğtan, General Manager of Anadolu Sigorta, Nedim Tarakçı, Director of Allianz Sigorta A.Ş., Özgür Obalı, Secretary General of the Insurance Association of Turkey, Gürkan Cağlıoğlu, Information Systems Coordinator of MLP Care were among the speakers in the session ‘Where are we in digitalisation with the payer stakeholders of the health sector, what awaits the sector’.
The last session of the workshop was held on ‘Expectations of health service providers from artificial intelligence supported programmes’.
