Production Processes and Process Automation Laboratory is one of the basic laboratories of engineering departments and is used extensively by Industrial and Mechanical Engineering departments. It is actively used in courses such as Production Methods, Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing, Computer Aided Mechanical Design and Analysis, Flexible Manufacturing Systems, Production Planning and Control and Quality Engineering.
In the "Computer Integrated Manufacturing" section of the laboratory, a computer-integrated and small-scale production line is planned, where students can experience real-time production processes and various flexible production systems. The parts designed and analyzed with the SolidWorks drawing and modeling program at the workstations here can be turned into prototypes from a 3-D printer. Produced parts move through conveyors and can be assembled into final products by means of manual and automatic systems (for example, robot arms). In addition, there will be quality control and storage units on the production line. Using production optimization, line balancing and discrete simulation algorithms, research and lecture applications can be made on topics such as how the production line can be made the most efficient. It is possible to verify the production optimization models through a digital factory software, on the real production line.
In the "Mechanical Design" section of the laboratory, there are equipment such as welding, soldering, column drill, hand drill, grinding and cutting machine used in classical production processes. In the same section, there are metal profile workbenches, wheeled tool cabinets, hexagonal work benches.
